A crown restoration or cap can do wonders for your
smile! The benefits of this natural-looking and
durable restoration are evident even for inconspicuous
zones like your side or back teeth! A single crown or
a crown and bridge will eliminate gaps, drifting,
crooked teeth or a malocclusion (bad bite). The secret
is in its strength.
A crown is used for protection and support when a
tooth is weakened by a break, a fracture, or a very
large filling. For one or more teeth missing, a bridge
(one or more replacement teeth) can be anchored by one
or more crowns.
Crowns and bridges restore tooth function and
appearance. Beautiful materials that reflect light
like natural enamel ensure the completely confident
and natural-looking smile that everyone notices!
Porcelain veneers offer an esthetically pleasing
natural looking smile that is unsurpassed by other
restorative options. These strong and long lasting
restorations are thin shells of porcelain, which are
permanently bonded to the front surface of your teeth.
Veneers are virtually undetectable and are highly
resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains.
They allow us to brighten, lengthen, and reshape your
teeth while conserving tooth structure.
Veneers are an excellent way to mask misshapen,
mal-aligned, cracked, chipped, stained or otherwise
damaged teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving
your smile and have become increasingly popular due to
their simplicity and versatility.
A dental implant is much like a natural tooth, which is placed in bone, topped by a crown that you can see. It acts and responds very similar to your natural tooth. It maintains bone and prevents further deterioration of your bone.
Dental implants can also be used to anchor dentures. Most patients find that an implant is secure and stable as a good replacement for their own tooth. Because the implants require surgery, patients should be in good health overall and have healthy gums and bone to support the implant. Patients also should be committed to very thorough oral hygiene every day, and regular dental visits.
Dr. Skladany has two hygienists working from 7:50 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is recommended that your first visit be scheduled with the hygienist; however, if you have a dental emergency or prefer a consult initially, we will gladly accommodate your needs.
Your first hygiene visit will include a comprehensive exam of your teeth and oral cavity, x-rays, perio probing, and thorough cleaning of your teeth. Dr. Skladany will examine your soft tissues and teeth following the cleaning and a treatment plan will be developed and reviewed with you prior to your leaving.
New patients are always welcome to the practice!
Dr. Skladany's office uses digital x-rays. There is no scatter radiation with digital imagery. The x-ray is displayed on the computer screen within seconds of the actual picture taking. If you are a new patient, Dr. Skladany may recommend a panoramic x-ray and/or bitewings to help assess your oral health and analyze changes that may occur later. X-rays can also be used to determine the source of any discomfort you may be experiencing. They are an important aid in detecting dental problems that are not visible during a clinical examination.
Latest Update – We have added a state-of-the-art (3) three-dimensional panoramic x-ray machine, which is often referred to as a “mini-CAT scan.” We are able to visualize three dimensional, panoramic, cephalic, and cross-sectional slices which allows for precise assessment of the teeth (ie. cysts, absesses, bone structure and anatomical features). Most dental insurances will cover this x-ray as a periodic diagnostic tool. The x-ray is digital and can be transferred to a CD for you to share with your medical doctor.
Dr. Skladany offers dental care to patients of all ages. It is beneficial for the family to have continuity of care. We enjoy getting to know our patients as a family.
